T. Renner, "Black & White Landscape #1," 2011, acrylic on paper, 6" x 4".
Spent July 31 painting small works on paper at the City-Wide Open Studio event sponsored by the Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis.
I don't have a studio that could be made open to the public so I was painting at the Artist Studio Building on Washington Avenue, just a couple blocks west of CAM.
Finished pieces were free for the taking, and I gave a number them away, but I have a bunch leftover, which I'll be posting over the next couple of weeks.
I limited my palette to three colors: titanium white, mars black, and ivory black. Subjects were limited to landscapes and "x"s.
Best comment was from someone who asked, "How are they free? You should charge $10 or $20 each."
By the way, I have some much larger work hanging at the recently opened Tavern of the Fine Arts, 313 Belt at Pershing, in the DeBaliviere neighborhood of St. Louis.
