The Decemberists
T. Renner, "The Decemberists," 2004, digital photograph.
The Decemberists are playing a sold-out show tonight at the Pageant in St. Louis, Missouri, so I thought I'd post this photo of them playing at the Duck Room in St. Louis on October 19, 2004.

Happy National Poetry Month and Poem In Your Pocket Day !
T. Renner, "Western Romance," 2011, correction fluid on ink-jet printed paper, 7" x 7".
For National Poetry Month, I have been posted a new poem every day on my other blog, Contraption. I've also been posting an on-going new painting, which I am creating my adding one different colored element each day.
Since this is Poem In Your Pocket Day, I decided to also post today's poem on this blog, too. The words came from randomly selected lines from a western novel and a romance novel, which I printed out in one block of text. I then used correction fluid to white-out the words I didn't need.

"Even Dreams Must Fall To Rules So Stupidly" at Quick? Art Show on Friday, April 8
T. Renner, "Even Dreams Must Fall To Rules So Stupidly," 2010, acrylic on paper, 6" x 4".
The above painting plus 11 others by me will be on display along with works by Gena Brady Allen and Kate Duncan at the Quick? art show being held at 2901 Macklind Avenue (one block north of Arsenal) on the Hill in St. Louis, Missouri, on Friday, April 8, from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m.
"Even Dreams Must Fall To Rules So Stupidly" is one of three paintings named after lyrics in three different Psychedelic Furs songs by Richard Butler. The St. Louis rock group Bunnygrunt has recorded a song called "More Loves Than Stupids," based on the observation that Richard Butler used the word "love" more often than the word "stupid" on the debut Psychedelic Furs album. He also used the word "dream" frequently, as well, teaming it with "stupid."

"Art Decade" at Quick? Art Show on the Hill, Friday, April 8
T. Renner, "Art Decade," 2010, acrylic on paper, 4" x 6".
"Art Decade" is one of four paintings I did in response to the four lyric-less pieces on David Bowie's album Low. I had been reading Hugo Wilcken's 33 1/3 book on the making of Low and set out to try to capture some of the feeling of the songs.
