"If something is boring after two minutes, try it for four. If still boring, then eight. Then sixteen. Then thirty-two. Eventually one discovers that it is not boring at all." -- John Cage.

For John Cage #8
T. Renner, "For John Cage #8," 2012, watercolor on paper, 4.25" x 5.5".
Early this year, inspired by "The Sight of Silence: John Cage's Complete Watercolors" by Ray Kass, I started a series of works on paper called "For John Cage." The first four pieces I completed, however, didn't really fit conceptually with the rest of the series, so I renamed them and have replaced them with the pieces "For John Cage #'s 5-8. " Since this is the John Cage centennial, the series will end with "For John Cage #100."
